Far Left Presidential Candidate Thinks Democrats Are Beyond Redemption

(RightWing.org) – Dr. Cornel West, Ph.D., is a well-known philosopher and outspoken voice in left-wing politics. He’s a card-carrying member of the Democratic Socialists of America alongside Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). On June 13, he announced his decision to seek the Green Party’s presidential nomination. He recently lashed out at Democrats, citing their disconnection from working-class Americans.

On August 29, The Hill’s daily news and opinion program, Rising, aired an interview with the aspiring candidate. Co-host Robby Soave asked West what he thought about Sen. Bernie Sander’s recent discussion with NBC’s Chuck Todd about his support for President Joe Biden’s 2024 presidential bid. The Sanders stressed the need for Americans to decide whether they stand for American democracy or support authoritarianism.

West, a longtime friend of Sanders, conceded that “Brother Bernie’s making a plausible argument.” However, West said he thought that “deep down” in Sanders’ heart, the senator knew the Democratic Party didn’t intend to speak to the needs of working-class Americans or people with low incomes.

Continuing, West said that Sanders and other lawmakers like Ocasio-Cortez were, at best, “people to appeal to every four years.” Inversely, he claimed they were “window dressing.”

Then, West dropped a bomb. Emphasizing his earlier observation, he told Todd that the Democrats were “beyond redemption at this point” regarding the needs of average Americans.

West’s third-party bid for the White House has raised concerns for Democrats in the form of flashbacks to the 2016 presidential campaign. Arguably, Green Party candidate Jill Stein received enough votes from Liberals and Progressives in swing states to derail Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

The latest survey from Emerson College Polling shows Trump receiving 46% of the vote to Biden’s 44% in a hypothetical matchup between the two candidates. However, with West on the ballot, Biden dropped five points, while Trump only lost 2%. West received 4%, with 13% undecided.
