(RightWing.org) – The People’s Republic of China (PRC) runs at the command of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which, in turn, spreads its fingers into all aspects of the country’s day-to-day life. It’s a place where scientific research in one discipline can be shanghaied for other purposes, such as medical innovation being used by their military.
Leftist Money Pipeline
The money comes from a variety of places. Some from names that anyone not living under a rock would recognize, such as:
- Henry Ford III
- Bill and Melinda Gates
- Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton
These people all have charitable foundations that carry their monikers of near-American royalty and have something in common besides being household names. They all funnel money to various institutes within the PRC — and a lot of it.
Publicly available tax filings (Internal Revenue Service form 990-PF) for the Gates and Ford foundations are shining a light on what might be a deep part of the liberal swamp. According to the 2021 disclosure for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, almost $30 million of their contributions went to the Asian nation.
One example would be ongoing grants to Beijing Normal University (BNU). Even the Gates Foundation’s 990 lists this as being a “foreign government.” Professors at the college are known to work on national defense projects, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), while the school itself “closely collaborates with military-civil fusion industrial parks,” according to an Australian watchdog group. This has the potential to be a problem should America’s “Cold War” with them ever turn into a shooting war.
The Ford Foundation’s flow of cash does not come close to that of the Gates’s, but it still comes near to the eight-figure mark at a reported $9.3 million. The institutions it gives money to include universities that are aligned with the PRC’s defense ministry. They also contributed to BNU, and some of those funds went to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which has the intent of helping the Communist country’s economy surpass that of the United States.
It’s been reported that in September 2022, the Gates Foundation gave more than a half-million dollars to the Clinton Health Initiative with an aim to increase developing countries’ dependence on China for medical supplies. The Microsoft billionaires also directly sent a grant of more than $400,000 to Tsinghua University for the exact same purpose.
Newsweek recently broke the story that another example of collaboration with the People’s Liberation Army came in the form of robotic fish that can be used as underwater unmanned vehicles (UUVs). Representative Mike Gallagher (R-WI) told the Washington Free Beacon that these charities that are helping “CCP-aligned interests in the developing world have serious questions to answer.”
