(RightWing.org) – For the last six months, Democratic presidential candidates, among others, have suggested that the Trump economy is not good for the middle-class, working-class, or those on the lower end of the economic spectrum.
In his State of the Union speech, President Trump said the unemployment is the lowest it has been in 50 years and that 157 million people are working.
These aren’t made up stories, they are verifiable facts.
Yet, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) said in her opposition speech that “American workers are hurting… wages have stagnated, while CEO pay has skyrocketed.”
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has said that an economic crisis will hit the United States soon.
Is that true?
Are American’s really struggling and are there signs of an impending crisis?
Democrats are trying to convince Americans that the Trump economy is working against them and that the rich are benefiting at their expense.
Unfortunately for Democrats, Americans don’t seem to be buying it. According to a Gallup poll released last week, 90% of Americans are satisfied with their personal life, which was directly tied to their personal financial situation.
In a separate Gallup poll, 61% believe they are better off than they were three years ago — that’s the highest percentage in an election year since 1984.
Sadly, a Pew Research study said only 39% of Democrats believe the economy is good or excellent compared to a whopping 81% of Republicans.
While the majority of Democrats are trying to convince Americans that things are not as good as they seem, a few on the Left are starting to get it. Josh Barro is a business consultant and Democrat. In a recent NY Magazine article, he acknowledged that people do feel good about the economy and Democrats shouldn’t be projecting the economy as bad… instead, they should focus on why it could be better.
So, what are the facts about the Trump economy and is it really falling apart as Democrats say?
- 57% of Americans believe the economy is excellent or good and 56% have positive views of the economy
- Unemployment is the lowest it has been since 1969
- Number of Low-income families decreased by 1% in 2019.
- Number People making $50,000 to $150,000 and above increased by 1%
- Employee wages increased by 4.5% in 2017, 5% in 2018, and 3.4% in the first 6 months of 2019.
- 82% of middle-class workers received a tax cut averaging $1,050
- Female single-parent household income increased by 7.6% in 2019.
- Poverty rates among African American female single-parent households fell 2.7%
- 33% of successful small businesses started with less than $5,000
The fact is simple… the Trump economy is not falling apart — much to the disappointment of Democrats. In fact, it is continuing to grow and expand.
As a result, Trump currently enjoys a 56.3% approval rating on the economy according to the RealClearPolitics average. In a separate Gallup poll on February 4th, Trump received the highest approval rating for any president in the last 20 years on the economy with a 63% approval rating.
If this continues, Democrats will continue to look silly as they attack Trump on the economy. Things are great right now and Americans are feeling it.
