Elon Musk Slams Biden After Speech

(RightWing.org) – As the military forces of Russian President Vladimir Putin continued their assault in Ukraine — including reports that they have used weapons banned under the Geneva Convention on civilian targets — a much less deadly battle is being waged in America. Instead of launching missiles and bombs, the weapons of choice are words (or lack thereof) and tweets between President Joe Biden and the head of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk.

Two Green Men Taking Pot Shots

While it’s amusing to imagine the Looney Tunes character Marvin the Martian and his “Pu-36 Explosive Space Modulator”, that’s not the green in question. The president relied on a platform that included reducing the nation’s carbon footprint, and Tesla is the manufacturer of an entire line of electric cars. However, if one pays attention to what Mr. Biden says he may not be aware of what the company does.

Soon after being sworn into office, the president’s official POTUS Twitter feed had a post with a video clip of him speaking with General Motors (GM) CEO and chairperson Mary Barra, congratulating her company and Ford for building electric vehicles (EVs) in America. Mr. Musk felt there was a glaring omission in the list and responded.

As is the way with all things social media, the list of comments grew and someone using the name Eva Fox took the two of them to task for the same issue. Then, the world’s richest man, with a net worth of more than $220 billion, sent another reply.

Politics at (Re) Play

During President Biden’s State of the Union (SOTU) address on March 1, the POTUS account once again snubbed the world’s largest maker of EVs while praising the other two for the number of jobs they are creating. Musk replied by pointing to the number of people making a living in his company.

It is no secret that the United Auto Workers (UAW) and other labor unions are deep-pockets behind many Democratic candidates, from local mayors to the White House. The feud may have started because Tesla’s manufacturing plants are not unionized. In fact, Press Secretary Jen Psaki once hinted that was the reason the company had been excluded from a summit with the other companies, according to The Daily Wire.

In part of his ventures beyond the Earth’s atmosphere, SpaceX has launched a series of low-orbit satellites (Starlink) that have the ability to provide Internet access. The multibillionaire may have landed a few blows in the ring of public opinion by sending, as the BBC put it, “a lorry full” of dishes to Ukraine as a precaution against Russia’s well-known use of cyber warfare. Biden was mute on this fact as well.
