Ducks Questions On Iran Cash

( – Former Secretary of State John Kerry lost his cool over the weekend after he was asked about his role in releasing $150 billion of frozen funds to Iran under the Obama administration. Kerry, apparently stung by a question about some of that money ending up in the hands of anti-American terrorists, decided to avoid answering and attack President Trump instead.

Kerry’s beef is with a recent tweet from the president in which he claimed that recent attacks against US forces in Iraq — and the American Embassy, which was targeted by a mob last week — were funded by the money returned to Iran by Kerry and Obama. When asked if he’d felt this was an acceptable risk when the money was released he snapped, “You know that the president’s tweet is a lie.”

It’s odd that Kerry would be so emphatic on this point, because in 2016 when the money was being released, he said, “I think that some of it will end up in the hands of the IRGC or other entities, some of which are labeled terrorists.”

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, a paramilitary force outside the control of the regular Iranian military and loyal only to the country’s ruling ayatollahs, is designated as a terrorist group by the US, UK, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Israel, and is sanctioned by the EU, Canada and Australia.
