Donald Trump Faces a Possible Second Indictment

(RightWing.org) – Donald Trump faces criminal and civil liability on several fronts. His civil defamation trial started on April 25. Additionally, acting New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Manuel Merchán recently scheduled the former president’s next court appearance on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records for December 4. A recent report indicated that Trump could face a possible second criminal indictment.

On April 24, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution published an exclusive article detailing a new timeline for Trump’s indictment. Reportedly, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis revealed her plans when she submitted a letter to local law enforcement officials asking them to prepare for her upcoming announcement of potential criminal indictments.

The prosecutor advised she would announce the indictments between July 11 and September 1, stemming from her investigation of possible interference in the 2020 presidential election.

Willis asked officials to anticipate the need for “heightened security and preparedness” because her upcoming announcement might “provoke a significant public reaction.” She sent the letters to the Fulton County Sheriff, Atlanta’s chief of police, and the head of the Atlanta-Fulton Emergency Management Agency, advising them to coordinate with “local, state, and federal agencies” to make sure they were “ready to protect the public.”

Although Willis’ letter didn’t mention Trump by name, legal experts noted her letter suggested she would seek charges against Trump and his potential co-conspirators for attempting to meddle in the final results of Georgia’s election. For instance, former Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said he couldn’t think of any other potential defendants who “would raise that level of caution.”

Likewise, former President Barack Obama’s ethics czar, Norm Eisen, told CNN host Wolf Blitzer that the “mountain” of evidence currently available to the public and the special grand jury’s recent report pointed to the “substantial likelihood Donald Trump and his… co-conspirators” would be indicted when Willis made the public announcements referenced in her letter.
