(RightWing.org) – Recently, House Democrats filed a request to receive grand jury materials related to the Mueller Report. This seems to be one of the Democrats’ last-ditch efforts to reanimate their impeachment efforts against President Donald Trump. That motion has been temporarily stopped in its tracks by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS).
BREAKING: The U.S. Supreme Court puts a hold on the release of secret grand jury testimony from the Mueller investigation to the House of Representatives. The ruling keeps the material out of the hands of Democratic lawmakers at least until early summer. https://t.co/tq3W342dUj

Democrats have tried to justify that their investigation into Trump is ongoing and didn’t stop after he was found innocent on the first two impeachment charges. Under a continued investigation, it would be possible for House Dems to get their hands on this redacted information. However, the SCOTUS ruled that the grand jury materials wouldn’t be made available because the House has failed to demonstrate that it “urgently needs these materials for any ongoing impeachment investigation.”
Lower courts have agreed with House Democrats in that impeachment is considered to be a judicial proceeding, which would exempt the grand jury materials from secrecy. The Department of Justice (DOJ) argues otherwise. With this new SCOTUS ruling, it seems highly unlikely the House will gain access to the files.
At the end of the day, Democrats are looking for any way possible to fulfill their promise to remove Trump from office. The only way they can do that is by winning the November 2020 election. If they put the same amount of effort into winning 2020 as they have with impeaching Trump, maybe they’d have a chance.
