Price Hike “Time Bomb” Set To Go Off Before Election Day
(RightWing.org) – Things look grim for Democrats’ hopes to remain in power with the economy in tatters. The last thing Liberals need is a ticking time bomb to ignite right before the midterms. Desperate to cling to power, a group of Democrats is pressuring House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to take action on Obamacare before it’s too late.
On June 13, a group of 57 House Democrats, led by Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA), and part of the New Democrat Coalition (NDC), sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to revive a reconciliation bill extending a set of enhanced Obamacare subsidies granted under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021.
The congress members warned that healthcare premiums could increase for more than 14 million Americans without a filibuster-proof bill. A recent Department of Health and Human Services report estimated as many as 3 million individuals would lose their health insurance under the ACA, and an additional 8.9 million would face dramatically increased annual premiums if Democrats fail to extend the ARPA’s advanced premium tax credits.
New Dem Chair @RepDelBene, Vice Chair @RepBera, and Health Care Task Force Co-Chair @RepTerriSewell held a press call calling for action to extend the ACA subsidies and close the Medicaid coverage gap.

If Democrats can’t rally around a reconciliation bill, notifications of those expiring tax credits would appear in October — right before the midterm elections. Any proposed legislation would likely pass in the Democratic-controlled House. However, they would need at least 10 Republican votes to get the measure through the Senate.
Do you think there’s any chance that many Republicans would join Democrats in supporting the tax credit extension?
