(RightWing.org) – The coronavirus pandemic may have brought hard times for millions of American workers, but New York’s Democrat governor won’t be tightening his belt next year. NY lawmakers have voted Andrew Cuomo an inflation-shattering 28% pay hike.
Cuomo’s generous pay rise is part of the latest New York state budget, which treats taxpayers to great new policies like a ban on plastic shopping bags and a $12 daily tax on anyone who wants to drive in Manhattan.
The main priority for lawmakers is to cut down the state’s massive budget deficit, which stood at $14.5 billion in September and is projected to grow by another $8.7 billion. Still, they’ve managed to scrape up enough to boost Cuomo’s salary from $179,000 to a cool $250,000. Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul (D) will also rake in a huge increase, going from $151,000 to $220,000.

His new salary will make Cuomo the highest-paid governor in the US. That’s sure to make New York’s long-suffering taxpayers very happy.
