Comey Plays Dumb About Russian Collusion

( – From space, all one can see is smoke that blankets a large part of California from raging wildfires. While you can’t see the flames from space, you still know they are there. On Wednesday, September 30, former FBI Director James Comey testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Similarly to the wildfires, there was a lot of smoke in the air as he either denied knowing certain things he should have been very aware of, or he conveniently couldn’t remember.

On Tuesday, Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe told the committee that the Obama administration received Russian intelligence in July 2016 about Hillary Clinton. Former CIA Director John Brennan’s handwritten notes say he informed President Obama that Hillary Clinton approved a proposal from a foreign policy advisor to smear Donald Trump to distract the media from her email scandal. The DNI alleges they concocted a scandal by claiming Trump was colluding with Russia and used the phony Steele Dossier, paid for by the Clinton campaign, to launch the investigation.

The declassified documents show that intelligence officials forwarded an investigation into Clinton’s approval to smear Trump in September 2016. The referral was sent to Comey and Deputy Assistant Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok.

Conveniently, Comey claims to know nothing about it.

Comey Plays Dumb

Senate Judiciary Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) specifically asked Comey if he remembered getting the criminal referral.

Comey said, “That doesn’t ring a bell with me.”

With everything that is in the public record regarding the FBI’s conduct under Comey, is that how he should be responding? He met with President Obama, Vice President Biden, and Attorney General Sally Yates in the Oval Office days before Trump’s inauguration. He initiated Crossfire Hurricane immediately after that meeting and started investigating incoming National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. The whole premise of the Democrats’ investigation into Trump was built on Hillary Clinton’s lie and the fake Steele Dossier.

Isn’t it convenient that in the middle of a presidential election, not one word has been uttered by Democrats or Democratic Nominee Joe Biden about Russian collusion?

In December 2019, the Department of Justice Inspector General outlined specific and “significant” errors and omissions in the FBI’s application to the FISA court seeking approval to spy on the Trump campaign.

When asked about the IG’s report, Comey said he wasn’t familiar with the IG’s findings before reading it. He also denied knowing about FBI interviews with Danchenko in January 2017.

Do Comey’s Previous Testimonies Trap Him?

Graham said he found it impossible to believe that the head of an agency with 38,000 people couldn’t remember what happened in an investigation he was responsible for initiating.

Former Deputy Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe is scheduled to appear before the committee in the coming weeks. He will be asked to clarify what he knows and shore up discrepancies between his previous sworn testimony and Comey’s that conflict with one another.

In the coming weeks, federal prosecutor John Durham is expected to release his report on the origins of the Russian collusion hoax. This story is still unraveling, and new information is likely to come to light. Be sure to stay tuned.
