China Refusing to Hold Bilateral Nuclear Talks, U.S. Says

( – China flexed its authoritarian leadership style this past year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which appears to have originated within its borders. Chinese officials did their best to cover up reports about the outbreak, risking the lives of people worldwide. Not yet satisfied with its reign of destruction, it’s upping the ante in its ongoing war against global peace.

US Disarmament Ambassador Robert Wood spoke at the United Nations Conference on Disarmament about preventing nuclear war and related matters on Tuesday, May 18. As he explained, the United States and Russia have systems to negotiate “agreements and arrangements” to prevent a nuclear conflict.

“Unfortunately, [China] continues to resist” engaging in bilateral talks with the United States regarding “nuclear risk reduction.” He added the US continues to seek meaningful discussions with China regarding nuclear policy, missile launch notification protocols, and creating better communication channels for times of crisis.

“We sincerely hope that will change,” he concluded. We do too.
