CDC Makes Statement on Schools

( – This week, President Donald Trump and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said they expect schools to reopen in the fall. The head of the American Academy of Pediatrics also wants that to happen because it is better for children to be in the classroom. Now, the CDC is weighing in.

On July 9, CDC Director Robert Redfield said the risks of keeping schools closed are far greater than opening them. He called it a “greater health threat to children.” That’s because kids need socialization and structure.

The fact is, many kids need to be in school because they just don’t learn as well at home. Also, we know that COVID-19 doesn’t affect kids in the same way as it does adults. The CDC and the Trump Administration are just trying to do what is best for kids and teachers — that means giving the next generation every possible educational advantage.
