A deadly boat fire off the coast of California took the lives of 34 innocent passengers earlier this month. The boat caught fire when most of the crew was sleeping. Only five people survived.

Now, the investigation into this case is proceeding under the US Coast Guard’s watch. The fire’s cause remains undetermined, but many suspect it was a malfunction with the boat’s phone charging station. While the investigation will take at least one year to complete, the Coast Guard may update safety protocols before it reaches a final conclusion.
There’s little to be done at this point other than to offer prayers for those affected by this accident. However, one thing every American can do to prevent a similar event from occurring is to check your own phone charging stations. Even if you don’t own a boat, ensure that your electronic devices and their charging accessories are in good condition.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
