John Bolton, the former National Security Advisor, recently stated that he doesn’t believe Kim Jong-un will give up his arsenal of nuclear weapons. He believes the opposite is the case.
In fact, I think the contrary is true. I think the strategic decision that Kim Jong-un is operating through is that he will do whatever he can to keep a deliverable nuclear weapons capability and to develop and enhance it further… Kim may make some concessions, but under current circumstances, he will never give up the nuclear weapons voluntarily.
Bolton butted heads with President Trump quite often during his time as a National Security Advisor. According to Trump, neither of them saw eye-to-eye on many important issues. Having a cohesive team that meshes well together is crucial at this level of authority.
Below is a compilation of Bolton’s quotes from a recent speech he gave:

In spite of Bolton’s opinion, the president repeatedly states he has an excellent relationship with Kim Jong-un. The two leaders have developed a unique friendship that could spell the end of North Korea’s nuclearization — if Trump’s staff would only give him the chance.
