Biden To Target Vulnerable Voters in Newest Election Scheme

(RightWing.org) – Invoking the partisan Clinton-era National Voter Registration Act of 1993, President Joe Biden issued Executive Order 14109, promoting access to voting in March 2021. Citing difficulties by many Americans, “especially people of color,” with the voter registration process, the president directed federal agencies to partner with local, Tribal, and territorial election officials to “expand access to voter registration.”

To support those efforts, on March 25, 2022, the US Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration Advisory System issued a guidance letter. The correspondence advised states they could designate the roughly 2,400 federally-funded American Job Centers to “effectively and legally register” people to vote.

The guidance specifically targeted programs catering to demographic groups the Democrats hope will help them maintain their control of both legislative chambers after the upcoming midterm elections, like

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act’s Title I Youth Program
YouthBuild
Multiple Native American programs
The National Farmworker Jobs Program
Job Corps

As one might expect, Republican lawmakers pushed back against the measure. For instance, Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) introduced the Promoting Free and Fair Elections Act to bar federal agencies from using tax dollars to conduct voter mobilization or registration activities.

Similarly, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), the ranking member of the Committee on Education and Labor, and Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL), the ranking House Administration Committee member, sent a letter to Labor Secretary Martin Walsh expressing their concern that President Biden lacked the statutory and constitutional authority to enforce Executive Order 14019.

While wanting more people to take part in the election process is a noble cause, trying to manipulate the system to sway it in your favor definitely is not.
