Biden Named as Suspect in Ukraine Court Case

( – Controversy threatens to dog the Democratic Party in the run-up to November’s election. A Ukrainian court launched an investigation into presumptive presidential candidate Joe Biden. Investigators want to probe links between Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine and Joe Biden’s use of economic pressure to have a prosecutor removed from office.

There’s no dispute that, in 2016, Joe Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in US loan guarantees if Ukraine didn’t fire its prosecutor general, Viktor Shokin. The question is, why did he do it? Biden claims it’s because Shokin wasn’t doing enough to fight corruption; Shokin says it was because some of the corruption he was fighting involved Hunter Biden.

Now, Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigations has been ordered by a court to look into Shokin’s firing and Biden’s role in it. If the former VP is formally accused of using his position to help his son avoid investigation, that’s going to be a big blow to his campaign.
