Biden Administration Is Wrong - Illegal Immigration Is a Super Spreader Crisis

( – On Monday, March 1, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed that the southern border was not facing an illegal immigration crisis. He called it a “challenge.” It could be a challenging crisis, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since January, doctors say that there is light at the end of the tunnel as America moves closer to herd immunity. However, President Joe Biden still believes that strong mitigation orders are needed to contain the virus until vaccination efforts significantly reduce hospitalizations. That’s in stark contrast to his immigration policies, which may be creating a super spreader event on the border and could risk America’s gains nationwide.

Over a Hundred Illegal Immigrants Tested Positive for COVID-19 and Were Released Into the US

According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) numbers, immigration facilities faced some of the worst COVID outbreaks. As of March 2, over 9,500 immigrants in detention facilities tested positive. One Democratic Congressman on Texas’s southern border is sounding the alarm about how bad the situation is becoming.

US Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) said that 108 illegal immigrants tested positive for COVID-19 in Brownsville before being put on a bus and released into the country freely by DHS. According to Fox News, some were traveling to Maryland and New Jersey.

When questioned, an ICE spokesman said they didn’t have the authority to stop those who tested positive from traveling into the US. He said the immigrants were told to follow CDC guidelines and social distance.

That’s right… do that on a bus with other people on it.

Has Our Government Lost All Common Sense?

Just a few weeks ago, President Biden was considering halting Americans’ movements across state lines, which is likely unconstitutional based on the Commerce Clause alone. However instead, his administration feels it’s appropriate to allow illegal immigrants known to be infected with COVID-19 to travel freely across America.

While Biden attacked Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott for “Neanderthal thinking” for re-opening his state, the president was allowing sick migrants to enter the country freely. Gov. Abbott tweeted that the administration’s actions were callous and reckless, and insinuated that Biden risked losing the gains made against COVID-19.

If the government isn’t careful, it risks turning the illegal immigration crisis into a COVID-19 super spreader illegal migration crisis. Once again, the government is causing a crisis that is unnecessary and could be preventable.
