Authorities Find Tunnel at the Border, in Possibly Large National Security Threat

Border Authorities FIND SOMETHING HUGE – A National Security Threat!

(RightWing.org) – Federal agents have smashed a cocaine-smuggling gang — and discovered a sophisticated cross-border tunnel almost a third of a mile long. Nearly a ton of drugs were seized during the operation, and six people were arrested. This is a major blow to the drug cartels, but how many more of these tunnels are operating?

Just after midnight on May 13, federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations were carrying out surveillance on a residence in National City, California, just outside San Diego. The agents followed one of the suspects to a San Diego warehouse about 300 feet north of the Mexican border. When they searched the warehouse, they discovered one end of a tunnel that turned out to be 1,744 feet long and 4 feet wide; the other end was under a house in Tijuana, Mexico. The steel-reinforced tunnel ran six feet below ground level and was equipped with electric lighting, a ventilation system and rails to move heavy loads. During the operation, agents arrested six people and seized 3.5 pounds of heroin, 164 pounds of methamphetamine, and 1,762 pounds of cocaine.

This tunnel is the first to be found since 2020 — but it’s unlikely to be the only one in use. Last year, fatal drug overdoses in the US jumped by 15% as the country was swamped by a wave of illegal narcotics. The situation at our southern border is now a major emergency and the Biden administration needs to act.
