70% of Americans Say It's Time to Accept COVID and Move On With Our Lives

(RightWing.org) – The Biden administration, and Democrats in state and local government, are pushing ahead with new COVID restrictions even though the pandemic appears to be winding down. Unsurprisingly, most Americans are fed up with it.

A new Monmouth poll shows there’s overwhelming opposition to more disruption; 70% of respondents agreed the time has come to accept COVID as a permanent health challenge and normalize. With the virus now becoming endemic, most people have accepted it’s something we just need to cope with, and we can’t live in a permanent state of emergency. Interestingly, the idea of returning to normal life is even more popular among Americans who’ve had COVID and recovered – 78% of them want to get back to normal, against 65% of those who haven’t had it.

It probably won’t surprise anyone to learn attitudes to COVID have now become a political marker. While 89% of Republicans and 71% of Independents want to get back to normal, just 47% of Democrats feel the same way. A majority on the left are still happy to have everyone’s freedoms restricted.

On a gloomier note, 28% of Americans think life will never return to normal – up from 22% in September and just 6% in January 2021. It’s time for President Biden to prove the pessimists wrong and let us get on with living.
