3 Ways Pelosi Dropped the Ball

3 Ways Pelosi Dropped the Ball

(RightWing.org) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) oversaw one of the most dysfunctional House of Representatives in modern times. The Speaker has repeatedly dropped the ball on Americans. Unfortunately, Pelosi has a history of bad decision-making and political incompetence.

During her first stint as House Speaker, Pelosi proudly split the country as she orchestrated a partisan takeover of healthcare. In 2009, not one Republican voted for Obamacare. Pelosi’s majority in the House was large enough she didn’t need them. So, she locked Republicans out of the process altogether, and refused to disclose what was in the bill, saying, “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in the bill.”

Unfortunately, Pelosi didn’t just drop the ball as Speaker during Obama’s term. She did so repeatedly in 2019 and 2020 as well. After President Donald Trump’s 2020 State of the Union speech, Pelosi ripped the president’s speech in half in a show of protest and defiance. It was an unusual act for one of the highest elected officials in government. That one act symbolized Pelosi’s most recent tenure as Speaker of the House.

Here are three ways she dropped the ball.

Russian Collusion

In July 2017, Pelosi claimed Democrats had “cold hard evidence” that Trump and his family colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election — they had none. When she took the gavel in 2019, Pelosi was eager to begin investigating Trump. While the Speaker didn’t directly run the committees investigating Russian Collusion, she made all the decisions about the Congressional investigations and who would oversee them.

During the three years of Congressional investigations, Democrats claimed often they had proof of Trump’s collusion with Russia. In early 2020, however, it was learned that intelligence officials were telling the committees behind closed doors there was no proof of the allegations all along.

Despite that, Democrats under Pelosi purposely misled America for political purposes. It was finally proven by the Mueller Investigation that there was no Russian collusion.

In March 2019, Pelosi emphatically stated she was not for impeachment. She claimed at the time it was divisive and would need to be “so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan.” It was none of those things.

Instead, it was a partisan political tool to harm President Trump. Not one House Republican voted for it, and the Senate Republicans flatly rejected the impeachment articles.

What America got was a sham hit job. George Washington University Constitutional Law Professor Jonathan Turley stated that Democrats were doing exactly what they accused Trump of doing: abusing power. He argued that Trump did not obstruct justice by trying to go to the courts to resolve the issue as Democrats claimed.

COVID-19 Relief Negotiations

In June 2020, Pelosi championed a partisan $2.2 trillion COVID-19 relief bill dubbed the “Heroes Act.” The bill was full of special liberal interests and sweetheart deals for entertainment venues, and more. In August, when it was apparent that more relief was needed for Americans, Pelosi refused to budge. In October, President Trump offered a $1.2 trillion deal that was rebuffed by Pelosi, and negotiations failed.

Now, it’s late December, and money is running out for unemployment benefits for the self-employed and gig workers hit hard by the new state government shutdowns. Pelosi’s take it or leave attitude was an attempt at leveraging the pandemic for political purposes. She followed the philosophy of former Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, who once said, “Never let a good crisis go to waste.”

Well, the Speaker botched it — again.

Now, it appears Pelosi is going to get two more years as Speaker of the House.

How many more ways can she drop the ball?
